Last February, the creator of the manga Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent A Girl), Reiji Miyajimaopened a very successful fundraising campaign for the franchise, to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the manga and the second season of the anime adaptation (currently airing), to pay for an in-store advertisement. Tokyo Shibuya Stationthe second busiest train station in the world.
The massive success resulted in the fundraising campaign reaching its goal of 6 million yen (more than 43 thousand dollars) in less than 25 minutesfinishing with over 12.3 million yen (more than 88.8 thousand dollars), more than double the amount requested with 647 donors. The propaganda was scheduled to be installed sometime in July and, punctually, it is already there, in Shibuya, including the following illustrations.
The second season has been broadcast from July 1 in Japan and has been confirmed with a total of twelve episodes, and the platform Crunchyroll handles its distribution in the West. Reiji Miyajima manga publication started Kanojo, Okarishimasu through the magazine Shōnen Weekly Magazine from the publisher Kodansha in July 2017.
Summary of Kanojo, Okarishimasu
Kazuya Kinoshita is a 20-year-old college student who has a wonderful girlfriend: the wonderful Mami Nanami. But suddenly, no more. Without warning, Mami breaks up with him, leaving him heartbroken and lonely. Trying to ease his pain, he hires a girl for hire through an online app. His partner is Chizuru Mizuhara, who manages to win Kazuya’s affection through her incomparable beauty and cute behavior. But after reading similar experiences from other clients of Chizuru’s, Kazuya is convinced that her caring personality and warm smile were just an act to play on his heart, and he thinks badly of her.
Worse, Chizuru criticizes him for his shameless hypocrisy, revealing his true temperament personality. However, this one-sided exchange is cut short when Kazuya learns that his grandmother has collapsed. They rush to the hospital and find Kazuya’s grandmother already in good condition. When Chizuru is present, Grandma asks who this girl could be. On impulse, Kazuya introduces her as his real girlfriend, forcing Chizuru to play the role. But with Kazuya still anchored to Mami, how long can this difficult client and reluctant rent girl keep up their act?
