Kaiju #8 anime revealed the first trailer along with information about the studio. Production IG will animate the series, which is set to premiere in 2024.
The anime was announced earlier this year with a teaser video and preview. Studio Khara is responsible for the monstrous design.
Manga Kaiju No. 8 by Naoya Matsumoto began serialization in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ and has since been collected into 7 volumes. Viz Media licensed it in English in North America, and four volumes have been published so far, with the fifth scheduled for release on January 23, 2022. The series was originally licensed asMonster #8in English, but the name was later reverted to Kaiju No.8, thoughManga Pluswhere the series is available for free reading, keep the title.

Kafka hopes to one day fulfill his contract with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japanese Defense Forces and fight on her side. But while she neutralizes the kaiju as captain of the Third Division, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of his battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the unit once more. There’s just one problem—he’s on the defense force’s neutralization list under the codename Kaiju No. 8.
