Japanese Breakfast joined Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy in concert yesterday (July 16) for his band’s 2001 hit ‘Jesus Etc.’ to clarify.
Michelle Zauner was performing at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Tweedy’s hometown of Chicago as part of her 2021 ‘Jubilee’ album tour.
Halfway through the performance, Tweedy joined her on stage to perform the “Jubilee” theme song “Kokomo, IN,” and the two shared a performance of the recent festival’s “Jesus Etc.”
The news comes after Zauner welcomed Wilco Tweedy’s Nels Cline to the stage during their performance at the Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, Massachusetts, where Cline played a guitar solo on the track “Posing For Cars ” by Japanese Breakfast.

Zauner’s current North American tour continues this month, with a performance from Japanese Breakfast alongside opening acts The Linda Lindas. The tour runs until mid-October, before Zauner and company begin a rescheduled run of shows in the UK and Europe. In November, he will be performing at the Primavera Sound festivals in São Paulo, Santiago and Buenos Aires – check his next tour dates here.
However, one of the canceled tour dates is a show in Rochester, New York, which Zauner canceled after the venue where he was booked agreed to host an event for right-wing conspiracy theorists.
Last week, Zauner revealed that he performed on “Part Of The Band,” the final single from The 1975. He did so after joining Jack Antonoff’s 1984-themed “SuperJam” at Bonnaroo, and a cover of Metric’s Black Sheep’ by Anamanaguchi in Brooklyn.
