Jack Antonoff Responds to Artists Leaving the Scooter Braun List
Jack Antonoff has responded to the news that a large number of artists have left the roster of legendary music manager Scooter Braun.
This month it was known that Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande have broken up with him. Other of his clients are Justin Bieber, David Guetta, Black Eyed Peas and Ava Max.
Antonoff collaborates closely with Taylor Swift, who publicly criticized Braun when he denied mastering Taylor Swift’s recordings, leading to her current series of re-recordings.
Now, he has responded to the rise of artists who have left Braun’s management company. Taking to Instagram, Antonoff shared the ‘Sims baby on fire’ meme and wrote: “Not now honey mamas trying to figure out why Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Idina Menzel ditched Scooter Braun for their manager .”
It was reported last year that Braun regretted the way he handled the sale of Taylor Swift’s master recordings.
Their feud began in 2019, when he bought her former record label, Big Machine, for $300 million (£227 million) through his investment group Ithaca Holdings.
The story resurfaced in late 2020, when Swift confirmed that ownership of her catalog had changed again for the second time in two years. He also shared a statement saying that the master recordings were “not for sale to me” and asserting that he believed that “I was robbed of my life’s work” in the market.
In other Jack Antonoff news, the singer will release a new live album with his band Bleachers this year as the first release on his new Dirty Hit label.
The singer-producer has also announced a new venture with label founder and manager The 1975, Jamie Oborne. Antonoff will team up with the manager and music mogul in a new joint venture, with the former signing a worldwide deal with Universal Music Publishing Group.
