LCD Soundsystem joined IDLES on stage to play ‘Rottweiler’ together during their concert last weekend.
During their Re:SET concert in Chicago on Sunday, June 25, members of LCD Soundsystem, including frontman James Murphy, joined the Bristol band on stage to support them on the song series finale, “Rottweiler.”
“I want to make this very clear. We are always humbled and very grateful to share the stage with LCD Soundsystem,” IDLES frontman Joe Talbot told the audience as he introduced the track recently.
I am also honored to be able to sing an anti-fascist song to open-hearted people. Thank you for hosting us in your beautiful country. We’ll see each other soon.”
The performance includes an intense “drum off” moment with all members of LCD joining in on the drums along with Talbott and IDLES drummer Jon Beavis.
IDLES opened for LCD Soundsystem during their Re:SET Concert Series tour. Speaking to NME, Talbot said: “LCDs are what you need. [como compañeros de gira]. You respect certain artists but when you meet them they are not like what you want them to be because they are not your fucking pet.
He added: “They’re people, and in a work environment, when you’re on tour, there’s a lot of different people who will be working their ass off to do something right. They might hate the tour. you do and you don’t see them. But this is an absolute dream. Quite the opposite. They’re all great people.”
The Bristol band will join the likes of Willie J Healey and Jamie T for the final concert at London’s Finsbury Park on Friday 30 June. Visit this link for last minute tickets.
