Hugh Grant has revealed that he is now a “rabid” fan of BLACKPINK.
The actor took his daughter and her friends to the K-pop band at BST Hyde Park on Sunday (July 2) – and ended up being a constant ‘Blink’.
“So thanks to 3 11 year olds for taking me to see @BLACKPINK yesterday. I’m in a raging dream now. Slept with a hammered heart,” tweeted Grant.
The term “Blink” refers to the nickname BLACKPINK gives to their fans. A Heart Hammer is a light pink hammer with heart-shaped ends sold in the band’s product range.
BLACKPINK made history over the weekend by becoming the first Korean group to headline a major UK festival.
Earlier this year news broke that Grant would be playing an Oompa-Loompa in the next Wonka film.
The film, scheduled for release later this year (December 15) through Warner Bros., is the third film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s popular children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and will star Timothée Chalamet as the character Willy Wonka.
Now, following the release of a new trailer at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, it has been revealed that Grant will be playing the role of one of Wonka’s Oompa-Loompas.
In the extended film, shown to exhibitors on April 15, the fictional confectionery developer meets the Oompa-Loompa (Grant), trapped in a stone jar, and later hires him to work on his factory.
The film also pays homage to Singin’ In the Rain, showing Chalamet singing, dancing and twirling around a light pole in search of magical recipes. It also gave viewers a glimpse of Olivia Colman’s character as a Cockney hostess and Sally Hawkins as Wonka’s mother.
