HotWax Share Explosive New Single ‘Dropped’ And Blood Royal Open Dates Confirmed
HotWax have shared their new single “Drop” and confirmed that they will be opening for Royal Blood on upcoming UK and US dates.
The new track was mixed by Alan Moulder (Foo Fighters, Wet Leg) and is the first new music from the Hastings trio since the release of their debut EP ‘A Thousand Times’.
The release is accompanied by an official UFO-themed music video directed by Josh Quinton, which you can watch below.
“My goal for this video was to create an explosive and exciting journey through the brains of the band members to match the motivational energy of the song, and fuse their own personal style with my love of junky movies. ’70s B series and’ children’s television in the ’90s,” Quinton said in a press release.
“I wanted to use the symbolism of space travel to represent the band’s momentum and their new landing around the world, while keeping to a strong DIY ethos and reaching the highest heights of fun.”
The trio will also support Royal Blood on their upcoming UK and US dates, which start on October 20 at the O2 Apollo in Manchester. You can buy tickets for the UK concerts here and for the US dates here.
They will also play two gigs of their own in the UK, at Colors in Hoxton in September and at Manchester Deaf Institute the following night (September 14). You can buy tickets here.
Before that they’ll be supporting The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs at All Points East on August 25 – get tickets here – and they’ll be playing at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
Speaking of the former, drummer Alfie Sayers recently told NME: “We’re almost guilty about being on the bill for the band. But in the same way, we want to enjoy the challenge: we’re unknown at the moment, and we have to prove ourselves. .”
Reviewing their single “A Thousand Times”, NME gave it four stars, calling it a “roaring series of highly promising takes on love, falling in love and the trials of teenage life.”
