Hot Chip Responds After Harry Styles Briefly Covers ‘Thar is Thar’ Live
Hot Chip responded after Harry Styles briefly covered one of their songs during a live concert.
The pop star performed a short snippet of the group’s 2005 single “Over And Over” during a recent tour concert, with footage of the moment captured by fans online.
Now, the indie-electronic band has addressed the cover on their social networks. They have jokingly announced that the former One Direction star is the new addition to their lineup.
In the video, Styles can be seen running from one side of the stage to the other, holding the bisexual flag and singing the chorus to “Thar is Thar”. The audience can also be seen on the screen behind him, laughing as he does the short story between songs.
“Introducing the newest member of Hot Chip…” the band captioned the images, reposting them on Instagram.
Fans also shared their support in the comments. “I love the idea of ’Thar is Thall’ being a coming out song,” one of them wrote, while another agreed, adding that he would “love” the two to get together for co-workers. See the images below.
Styles’ ties to Hot Chip extend beyond his nod to the band on stage. The singer’s drummer, Sarah Jones, was also a member of the British synthpop band. Throughout his career he has collaborated with other groups, such as Bat for Lashes and Bloc Party.
In other Styles news, the soloist is currently continuing his ‘Love On Tour’ series of live performances, with his next scheduled appearance taking place in Barcelona tomorrow (July 12).
It was reported over the weekend that the singer was the latest musician to be hit while on stage, after a fan threw something at him from the crowd.
The incident happened during their concert in Vienna on Saturday (July 8). In the images recorded by fans, the singer is seen with his face in pain after being hit by an object thrown by a member of the public. It is still unclear what was released or who was responsible.
The problem seems to be becoming more common at live shows, as other artists, such as P!nk and Lil Nas X, are also thrown objects while performing. The most exciting situation for Bebe Rexha happened last month, when she was hit in the face by a phone during her performance and needed stitches.
On the other hand, after Styles’ concerts in London, fans said that she had decided to name her child in honor of her tour after he helped her reveal her sexuality on stage.
