Holly Humberstone shares her new collaboration with Matty Healy’s “Sleep Tight”.

Holly Humberstone shared her new single ‘Sleep Tight’, co-written with Matty Healy from the 1975’s and her longtime collaborator Rob Milton.

The track follows “London Is Lonely,” the first release of 2022 from the award – winning NME pop artist.

In “Sleep Tight”, Humberstone addresses a friendship that has grown into something else. “And oh my God, I’ve done it again / I’ve almost killed our friendship and I hope it’s worth it,” he sings at one point. “And I have boiled all this / Cause I got drunk and said too much.”

“It’s uncomfortable trying to capture emotions with a friend, because they are often emotions that we may have suppressed for a while,” Humberstone explained in a press release. “When they come to light, you have to weigh the risks of injury and you may lose weight in your life. I wrote ‘Sleep Tight’ about the uncertainty of friendship being something else.

“The first summer that we left locked up was crazy for me and my friends because we finally had the freedom back and we acted like we had nothing to lose. This song brings me on Back to that time as it felt without consequences and without delay. heartbreak. “

The new single is Humberstone’s second collaboration with Healy. Earlier, the two co-writers wrote “Please Don’t Leave Just Yet,” which appears on their second EP “The Walls Are Way Too Thin.”

The star won best mixtape at the 2022 NME BandLab Awards for that release. “I feel very lucky,” she told NME on the red carpet at the event. “[‘The Walls Are Way Too Thin’] It’s a very special job for me, and I’m glad you like it.

“It’s great, it’s such an honor. My family used to collect the NME demo CDs when I was young, so I found a lot of my favorite music through those CDs. Being here, nominated for best mixtape, it’s weird and really cool. “

Humberstone previously confirmed to the NME at Reading 2021 that he had written more songs with Healy. Asked about the differences between his relationship with Healy compared to previous collaborators, Humberstone said, “I think there’s a big difference between working with other writers who are just writing, and then with people. [como Matty] who throw their hearts on their sleeves every day as they walk into the studio to write about everything they feel. “

The rising star is currently on tour opening for Olivia Rodrigo in the United States and will return to the UK for her biggest dates in June, before the summer of the festival. Check out all the dates and buy tickets here.
