Harry Styles made control calls when his Grammy performance went wrong
Harry Styles asked staff to check on him after the stage he was performing on at the 2023 Grammy Awards turned in the wrong direction.
According to Julio Himede, set designer for the Grammys, Styles was courteous and did not blame the technicians for the disaster.
Styles “called the responsible team to make sure they were OK,” said Himede.
At the 65th Annual Awards, held in Los Angeles on February 5, Styles and his dancers were forced to “reverse” their live routine on stage when the revolving stage failed.
The pop star sang her 2022 hit, “As It Was,” and mirrored the song’s official video, which featured Styles on a turntable with a group of backing dancers.
The pop star sang her 2022 hit ‘As It Was’ at the 65th Annual Awards in Los Angeles, Calif, last Sunday (February 5).
Himede added that the disaster was “unbreakable”.
“In rehearsals, his performance was so polished. I was sitting there admiring how amazing Harry and his dancers were to stick with him and get through. To continue with the live performance and suddenly think, ‘Now I have to go back.’ , it’s incredible”.
Adding that incidents like this explain why multiple rehearsals are so important for live television, Himede went on to discuss his next big project: designing the sets for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
Meanwhile, in other Styles news, Shania Twain has released an official version of her song ‘Fallen’.
The track, released as part of the singer’s Spotify Sings session on March 15, joins Twain’s cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s song ‘Spoonful’ and the title track from her recent album, ‘Queen Of Me’.
Twain said of his ‘Falling’ cover art in a statement to Stereogum: “I fell in love with ‘Falling’. I love Harry Styles anyway and his version of the song really moved me and I wanted to try it out. more emotional than I expected.” I thought and I really liked it: somehow I can hear my pain in it.”
