Guns N’ Roses will reportedly release the previously unreleased single “Maybe” later this week.
The song is from the band’s ‘Democracy of China’ era and will be officially released on all streaming platforms this Friday, August 11th.
As of this writing, the band has not made any official announcement about the upcoming song, but a link briefly appeared on Universal Music’s website that allows fans to save the song on Spotify and Apple Music.
When the track arrives, it will mark the first release from the rock veterans since the four-song EP “Hard Skool”, which arrived in February of last year. The release was available exclusively on the band’s official store and featured two new songs they had released the previous year – ‘Absurd’ and ‘Hard Skool’-, as well as live versions of ‘Don’t Cry’ and ‘You’re Crazy’.
Like Parliament’s title track, “Maybe” was also written and recorded during sessions for Guns N’ Roses’ last full-length album, “Chinese Democracy,” which came out in 2008. Although the band never released the song ever officially, a rough version was leaked and uploaded to YouTube.
The announcement of new Guns N’ Roses music is something that fans have been eagerly awaiting for the past few months.
There was speculation earlier in the year that Axl Rose and company would officially re-release the song, when fans waiting for the band in Tel Aviv heard the members rehearsing “Maybe” before the concert .
Also, before their concert in Paris, their manager Tom Mayhue also teased that new G’N’R music was on the way and that it would be similar to his iconic “Appetite For Destruction” album.
“I know that the band is going to start working on new music. They have already recorded a lot of material. So there will be new Guns N’ Roses music soon,” he said then. “Actually, I think they’re trying to put it out any day now, so you might hear something very soon… It sounds great. It’s much more focused on ‘Appetite’ .”
Slash also revealed plans for new G’N’R releases during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk last October. “I want to record a new record at some point, probably sooner rather than later. But other than that, we still have stuff we need to put out,” he said when asked about new material. “We have one more tour to do next summer, and then we’ll be free to work on a new record.”
In an interview with NME shortly after his headlining performance with the band at Glastonbury, the world-renowned guitarist revealed that he has other projects on the horizon as well as his plans for new music.
“I’m on tour with Guns N’ Roses until October, then in January I’m out with my other band The Conspirators,” he began. “I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m also doing a really exciting TV series in England. It’s an adaptation of a great book. You’ll know what it’s all about when the press release comes out.”
