Green Day will perform their deepest songs at the Lollapalooza warm-up concert

Before headlining Sunday’s show at Lollapalooza 2022, Green Day performed last night (July 29) in an intimate warm-up show and performed several songs.

In the 1,100-capacity Chicago Subway, it didn’t take long for Green Day to stray from their set list, which was very similar to the one they played on the recent Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy.

According to fans, 19 of Green Day’s 28 songs on the set list were not written, and the band relied heavily on early albums ‘Kerplunk’ (1991), ‘Dookie’ (1994) and ‘Insomniac’ ( nineteen ninety five).

Church On Sunday” and the theme song for “Warning” were performed live for the first time since 2001, and the full band performed the “American Idiot” cut “Whatsername” for the first time since 2005 (via Setlist). fm ).

During the concert, Green Day performed again in front of a screen that read “Fuck Ted Cruz”.

Unveiled for the first time in Europe, the message comes amid wider criticism of Cruz and the US Republican Party in response to the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas on May 24. The tragedy left 19 children and two teachers dead, but Cruz, who is serving as a junior state senator, has consistently blocked efforts to pass stricter gun laws after the shooting.

At a recent concert in London, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told the crowd that he was going to “give up his US citizenship” after the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
