French Montana has trolled soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo after Morocco kicked Portugal out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Moroccan-American rapper posted on Instagram on Saturday (December 10) his 1-0 win against Morocco.
Posting an image of the Moroccan men’s soccer team and a pride of lions chasing Portuguese captain Ronaldo (the Moroccan national team is nicknamed the “Lions of the Atlas”), Montana wrote: “Ronaldo had your time.. . it’s Morocco time” .
“SCIENTIST ON ANOTHER LEVELLLLL!” Montana wrote, adding the phrase “HAMDULILLAH” (or “praise be to God”).
Born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city, Montana moved to the United States as a teenager. In the past he spoke at length about his love for football.
Morocco became the first African country to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup on Saturday after defeating Portugal. The Lions took part in the World Cup for the first time in 1970, and their best qualification to date was in the round of 16 in 1986, when they lost to West Germany.
Morocco will now face France in the semi-final on Wednesday (December 14). The other match of the World Cup semi-finals pits Argentina against Croatia tomorrow (December 13).
In other World Cup news, entertainment figures reacted to England’s elimination from France on Saturday.
That’s how football is,” wrote TV presenter Richard Osman, “sometimes it turns against you. I’m sorry Harry. Allez Morocco.” On the other hand, KSI, Ricky Gervais and many others responded.
