Dave invites other fans to come on stage to rap ‘Thiago Silva’

History made its own again yesterday (April 17) when Dave invited fans on stage at Coachella to rap verse from his 2016 collaboration with AJ Tracey, ‘Thiago Silva’.

After a viral moment of 2019 when Alex Mann “Alex de Glasto” released the verse at the Glastonbury Festival, the rapper once again released a trailer for the same challenge.

At Coachella, Dave selected “Spike from London” from the audience to join him on the Mojave stage. Spike’s performance on the Internet was hailed as “special” and “crazy”.

“My God, talk to people, brother,” Dave – real name Dave Omoregie – said after Spike delivered Tracey’s lines.

For its part, the original BBC YouTube clip of Mann performing the song in 2019 has already reached more than 30 million views.

NME spoke to Mann, who saw the biggest contract deals ever after his rap, in 2019 about the viral moment. Mann said he was recognized “immediately” as he continued to enjoy the festival weekend.

“It happened immediately. Because I wanted to see another artist on another stage, and the stage was only a few minutes away, I finished half an hour to get there, since everyone was watching me everywhere, “said Mann.

Meanwhile, Dave has been nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the Ivor Novello 2022 Awards, which take place next month. He has been named alongside Adele, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and RAYE.
