Speaking in 2013 about the time between 2006’s ‘9’ and its sequel, Rice said: “Sometimes you have to learn to walk away from what you love to love it again.”
Speaking on a recording with Rick Rubin in both Los Angeles and Iceland, he said: “I approached Rick mainly because of things I didn’t know about him, rather than what I did know.
“For some reason I had this feeling that I would be comfortable opening up, being myself, and being vulnerable with Rick.”
