Lauren Mayberry, leader of Chvrches, performed live for the first time as a solo artist and presented unreleased material for the first time. Below you will find images of the concert and the full set list.
The first performance took place last night (September 4) at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC and marked the singer’s first solo performance.
Additionally, it comes just three days after the singer officially released her debut single, the emotional and personal ballad “Are You Awake.” Mayberry co-wrote the song with Canadian singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr and Zedd collaborator Matthew Koma, who also produced the song.
Last night, Mayberry opened the live show with the first performance of a song called “Bird”, a track full of attitude and attitude in which she leaned into the audience singing “Let’s make our happiness public / Or on at least I will force him. smile”.
From there he went on to a song called “shame”, in which he played with dynamics and went from a powerful and controversial chorus to solemn and quieter moments.
This was followed by the dance song “Athru Cruthanna” and, after that, the new song “Mantra”, darker and more sensual. See images of the songs below.
Other tracks premiered live at the concert included “Under The Knife”, an 80s-inspired pop song called “Crocodile Tears”, and the energetic pop-punk track “Sorry, Etc.”, which closed the concert.
While the vast majority of the songs were previously unreleased tracks from Mayberry’s new solo catalog, the singer performed “Are You Awake,” her recently shared debut single, as the penultimate track of the night, sitting behind the keyboard. She also surprised fans by performing a cover of Madonna’s 1989 classic “Like A Prayer.” More images and tracklist below.

Prior to the release of “Are You Awake? Mayberry’s solo credits were minimal. She provided guest vocals on Death Cab for Cutie’s song “Northern Lights,” which appears on their 2018 album “Thank You For Today.”
