Chino Moreno’s Crosses side project shares the video for their new song “Holier”.

††† (Crosses), the side project of Deftones frontman Chino Moreno, shared a video for his new song “Holier”.

The track is their third release, following ‘SENSATION’ and ‘VIVIEN’, all included on their new EP ‘PERMANENT.RADIANT’, out via Warner Records today (December 9). You can listen to the EP below.

The accompanying music video, which you can watch below, follows the recurring lead played by Thais Molon from previous clips, on a surreal journey.

The duo, made up of Moreno and producer and multi-instrumentalist Shaun Lopez, spoke to NME earlier this year about the music they’ve been making together, saying their new music shares the same spirit as their debut album “geek of the sounds ” and “trying to get away from things that are too contemporary or too axial”.

“There are certain sounds that we’re drawn to, and a lot of it has to do with the music we grew up listening to,” says Moreno. “Shaun and I have very similar tastes. It’s about using all of those influences, but not making something that looks of today or trying to be like the past. “

“We just take those influences and put them forward as us. The emotions we try to create come from a very raw place. It’s not the most colorful music in the world, but when you get into it’s hard to go anywhere else. . We dive into the darkness. Let us carry ourselves away from it. It’s an organic thing.”

The duo first formed in 2011, releasing two EPs that year before a self-titled album in 2014. However, the project remained on hold until 2020, when they returned with a cover of Cause And Effect “The Beginning Of The End.” , before signing with Warner the following year. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a cover of ‘Goodbye Horses’ by Q Lazzarus.

Earlier this year, they released two standalone singles, “INITIATION” and “DEFENSE”, which do not appear on their new EP.

Deftones have recently been announced as one of the headliners for the Sick New World festival, which will take place in Las Vegas in May 2023. System Of A Down, Korn and Incubus will also headline.
