Studio MAPPA animates A man with a chainsaw anime, directed by Ryu Nakayama. Kazutaka Sugiyama does character design, while Kiyotaka Oshiyama is credited for creature design. Kensuke Ushio composed the music. The first trailer was revealed last June. The studio previously announced plans to hire and train animators to work on this and future projects. Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime overseas, and the anime is also set to have its own panel at the Crunchyroll Expo later today.

The anime is based on a manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The first part originally ran from 2018 to 2020 and ended after 97 chapters and 11 volumes. The sequel, titled Part 2, will launch on July 13 on the Shonen Jump+ platform.

Viz Medialicensed the manga in English and described the plot as:
Denji is a poor young man who would do anything for money, even hunting devils with his pet devil Pochita. He is a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt. But his sad life turns upside down one day when he is betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a devil within him, Denji has become a whole new person—the Chainsaw Man!
