In the midst of the French Revolution, members of the so-called lower classes rise up to fight inequality: “The natural order is to milk us dry with impossible rents and unpaid taxes,” Maria (Davies), a young leader, complains . Meanwhile, Richter Belmont (Blumel) senses a far darker and greater danger. He has taken up his family’s long-standing tradition of vampire hunting, a calling that dates back almost as long as a vampire’s lifespan (in other words, forever). But he’s never seen anything like what he’s witnessing now – could the drastic surge in vampire activity have something to do with his mother’s death? And what’s up with this rumor about a supposed vampire messiah?
