Cardi B and Billie Eilish have spread rumors after a Met Gala video came to light in which the latter appears to be calling the “weird” rapper.
The two artists attended the annual event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday (May 2), and in one clip, Cardi was seen giving a speech to the crowd while other parties filmed her on their phones.
In the clip, Eilish, who is closer to the camera, is seen saying the word “strange” after the rapper interacted with the audience.
This led many social media users to conclude that Eilish was calling the rapper “weird.”
But now the two have cleared up the misunderstanding, and Cardi later exchanged her and Eilish for their direct Instagram messages.
“Oh my god, I was so worried you would see it,” says Eilish in the voice memo, referring to the clip.
“I was making weird calls to people around you because everyone around you was sticking their phone up your ass! And I was like, look at her, with your eyes!”
Confirming to Eilish that she was not guilty, Cardi responded with her own voicemail, saying, “The internet wants to share us! They don’t understand that you are my baby!”
Commenting on the video post, the rapper also criticized those who interpreted Eilish’s comment in a negative light.
“I hate the internet because, how do you play one of the most enlightened parties?” he captioned the post before saying, “Yesterday, from the meeting to the party, everything was free of drama. Why do you guys want to turn everything into a mess?”
Cardi and Eilish were among the recent artists known as “tools of Satan” by Kristina Karamo, a Republican candidate for Michigan Secretary of State.
Eilish yesterday (May 3) announced details of Overheated, a multi-day weather-focused event taking place at O2 London next month.
