Calvin Harris and Sam Smith have released the video for their new collaboration “Desire”.
The track was released last month and peaked at number six on the Billboard US Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The song has a thumping beat and an anthemic chorus: “You’re my desire, oh / And only the thought of you keeps me awake / You take me higher, oh / Take me away,” perfect for the dance floor.
An accompanying video has since been released showing a group of drag racers driving, with Smith singing and posing around a race car.
Desire” is the third collaboration between Harris and Smith, following “Promises” and “I’m Not Here To Make Friends” from Smith’s latest album, “Gloria.”
Following the release of the collaboration, “Desire” debuted in the UK Top 20, peaking at number twelve, and has amassed over 18 million streams worldwide.
The track follows Harris’ collaboration single “Miracle” with Ellie Goulding. The ’90s trance-inspired track marks the duo’s third collaboration following 2012’s “I Need Your Love” and “Outside.” Harris posted the song in January by sharing a photo of himself and Goulding in the studio.
The track reached number one on both the UK Singles and Dance Charts, where it spent eight weeks, followed by 16 weeks in the UK Top 3.
In other news, Smith has received five nominations at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. It has earned nominations for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Direction, Best Visual Effects, and Best Choreography.
The singer also included a song on the Barbie soundtrack called “Man I Am.” The theme follows the attitude of all the actors who play Ken in the film.
