BTS’ Jungkook to co-host Global Citizen Festival 2023

BTS member Jungkook will co-host the 2023 edition of the World Citizen Festival.

As announced yesterday (September 6), the K-pop singer will be performing at the event in Central Park, New York, on September 23. She joins previously announced headliners Anitta, Lauryn Hill and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

“I’m so excited to be joining this year’s World Citizen Festival as a headliner!” The festival shines a light on important causes and inspires action, and I’m delighted to be a part of it.

“I can’t wait to perform in front of a lot of people on the Great Lawn in Central Park.”

Megan Thee Stallion, Conan Gray, Stray Kids, D-Nice and Sofia Carson will also be in attendance.

The first World Citizen Festival took place in 2012. According to its official website, the event”coincides with the United Nations General Assembly to seize opportunities to obtain political and financial commitments from government, business leaders and philanthropy to end poverty, demand equity and the planet.”

It says: “Tickets to the World Citizen Festival are awarded through points earned by taking actions to fight extreme poverty, such as signing petitions, calling your political representatives, taking part in challenges, etc.”

Jungkook released his latest solo single, “Seven” (feat. Latto), in July. His bandmates BTS V joined him on stage to perform the song live.

Last month, Big Hit Music released a statement denying allegations of plagiarism regarding “Seven.”
