In a post shared on Friday (December 2) – her own birthday – the elder Spears wrote that she was “thinking” of Jamie Lynn, whom she described as her “heart”.
Referring to Jamie Lynn’s upcoming reality show, Special Forces: The Final TestBritney continued: “Congratulations on being so brave, encouraging and showing guts and glory on your show! You’re not alone…if anyone knows what that feels like…I understand . My little sister!!! I love you!!!”
The heartfelt message surprised many of Spears’ fans, considering her feud with Jamie Lynn in recent years. In January, the pop star’s lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, sent the latter a cease and desist letter demanding that Jamie Lynn stop talking about his sister “disparagingly” while promoting her memoir, Things I Should Have Said.
This came after Spears said she was “embarrassed” with her family, following a TV interview Jamie Lynn gave about the new memorial. Jamie Lynn was asked about part of the book in which he describes Britney – before she was placed under guardianship – as “erratic”, “paranoid” and “spiraling”. The singer herself also responded to Jamie Lynn’s claims, saying her younger sister had “fallen to a new level of turpitude”.
Jamie Lynn had previously come out in favor of Spears’ fight to end her 13-year custody – which she won in November 2021 – saying “Since the day I was born, I’ve had nothing but love and respect and support for my sister”.
