Blink-182 postpone UK and Ireland concerts due to “urgent family matter”

Blink-182 have announced that they are canceling some of their upcoming shows in the UK and Ireland due to an “urgent family matter”.

The UK tour kicked off today (September 1) with a show at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, followed by Belfast and Dublin next week (September 4-5). However, according to a new update on the band’s X/Twitter page, the September tour dates will be rescheduled as drummer Travis Barker has been forced to return home.

“Due to an urgent family matter, Travis had to return home to the United States,” the post read. “The Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin shows have been postponed. More information on their return to Europe and rescheduled dates will be provided as soon as it becomes available.”

The pop-punk trio still have dates in London, Birmingham and Manchester for October.

The band were already in the UK, and guitarist Tom DeLonge shared images on social media of their arrival in Glasgow.

The highly anticipated concerts were to be the trio’s first performances in the UK and Ireland since Tom DeLonge’s return to the pop-punk band. It is not yet clear when the rescheduled dates for the affected concerts will be announced, although it appears they will be announced soon, as the band has yet to provide ticket holders with refund details.

As of this writing, all upcoming UK concerts in October – including two consecutive nights at London’s O2 Arena – will go ahead as planned. No further details about the family incident are known yet.

Unfortunately for fans, this isn’t the first time Blink-182’s long-awaited concerts have been forced to be rescheduled.

In March of this year, the line-up had reformed to perform the first concerts of their return tour in South America and Mexico, but these were soon postponed after Barker suffered repeated finger injuries.

Instead, the trio performed together for the first time since reforming a month later, at this year’s Coachella.

DeLonge, who rejoined the band in 2022 after a seven-year absence, surprised fans with the announcement by sharing an image of a teleprompter on stage, which read the lyrics to their 2000 hit, “Family Reunion.” “.

“See you at Coachella Friday 6:30pm Sahara Tent,” he wrote, also tagging the band’s account.

The announcement of the UK and Irish dates being postponed comes after the frontman revealed that his next album is “just weeks (days) away”. A firm release date for the LP has yet to be revealed, although DeLonge recently told fans that the upcoming project is his “best album” to date.

Below are the remaining dates on the band’s UK tour:
