BlackPINK’s The Weeknd And Jennie Share New Song From ‘The Idol’
BLACKPINK’s The Weeknd and Jennie have shared a new song to appear on The Idol – listen to ‘One Of The Girls’ below.
Idol was created by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and follows the plot of a pop star (Lily-Rose Depp) who strikes up a controversial relationship with self-help guru and cult leader Tedros (Abel Tesfaye).
Depp also featured on The Weeknd’s two new songs ‘World Class Sinner/I’m A Freak’ and ‘The Lure’ from the series’ soundtrack, released earlier this month.
Now, Tesfaye has teamed up with Jennie, who also appeared on The Idol as one of Depp’s backup dancers, Dyanne, for a new track.
Listen to “One of the Girls” below.
The first single from the HBO series was titled “Double Fantasy,” featuring The Weeknd (now given his birth name Abel Tesfaye) in collaboration with Future. Like “The Lure”, the single was produced by The Weeknd and Mike Dean, and was accompanied by a music video featuring clips from the set.
Recently, the singer-songwriter and actor released the single “Popular,” in which he teamed up with Playboy Carti and the queen of pop, Madonna. Produced by Tesfaye, Mike Dean and Metro Boomin, it was also revealed that all of the songs from the series will appear on the soundtrack album, “The Idol, Vol. 1,” which will be released on June 30.
The Weeknd is also touring UK stadiums to celebrate his last two albums, ‘Dawn FM’ and ‘After Hours’.
In their review of the Manchester concert, NME wrote: “There may be some debate as to which song should have ended his headline performance tonight, but ‘Blinding Lights’, from 2020 onwards, is due to The Weeknd’s ability to dominate get on the charts. After hours, the choice is clear: the unifying force of the stadium, which inspired the kind of huge chorus you could probably hear at Old Trafford, on the other side of Manchester.”
