BLACKPINK has become the first K-pop group to get 2 billion views on YouTube for a music video with their 2018 single ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’.
The quartet’s record label, YG Entertainment, officially announced on Twitter today (January 4) that the music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has reached 2 billion views on YouTube, making BLACKPINK is the first K-pop group in history. achieves this feat with a single video clip.
BLACKPINK ranks right behind Psy’s 2012 viral hit “Gangnam Style,” whose music video already has 4.6 billion views at press time. Following behind the music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” is another BLACKPINK video: the official music video for “Kill This Love”, with 1.7 billion views and counting.
Psy’s “Gangnam Style” video treatment was the first YouTube hit to reach 1 billion views in the platform’s history, creating the Billion Views YouTube Club.
