Benjamin Clementine has announced details of his new album ‘And I Have Been’ and has shared lead single ‘Genesis’ – check it out below.
‘And I Have Been’ is the follow-up to 2017’s ‘I Tell A Fly’ and is due out on October 28, via his own Preserve Artists label.
According to Clementine, “‘And I Have Been’ was conceived during COVID. Like everyone else, I too faced many lessons, complications and epiphanies of sharing my journey with someone special.” The album is entirely written, produced, produced and mixed by Benjamin Clementine.
The announcement also comes alongside the new single “Genesis”.
Speaking on the subject, Clementine explained that “‘Genesis’ is a song about always denying my roots. But as always, no matter what we do in the new world, our old world is buried in our subconscious. I found myself in love – I hate a relationship with my roots. I’m trapped in freedom.”
The disc will also include the recently released singles ‘Copening’ and ‘Weakened’.

According to a press release, ‘And I Have Been’ will be followed by another album next year. “‘Part One’ is just the staging, it’s the tip of the iceberg that sets the stage for ‘Part Two,’ which goes deeper,” Clementine said.
In a post from Instagram On ‘And I Have Been’ shared earlier this year, Clementine said: “It’s a pleasure to share these new songs with you. In fact, it’s not an album or my third album, because everything is already recorded and it will be there. maybe released early next year. But these songs that I’m sharing now have been bugging me for years and sometimes you have to cancel to clear the way. Take or add to what you feel.”
Benjamin Clementine recently made his acting debut as the Herald of Change in Denis Villeneuve’s multi-Oscar winning film Dune. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that filming has begun for the second part.
