Anthrax cancels 2022 European tour due to “logistical issues” and high costs

Anthrax has canceled its 2022 European tour, citing logistical and financial issues.

The New York heavy metal group were scheduled to play numerous concerts in Europe after their next set of dates in the UK, which is yet to start on September 27.

However, via their official social media channels, Anthrax wrote: “Unfortunately, due to logistical and cost issues for 2022 that are beyond our control, we have no choice but to do the European leg of our upcoming 2022 tour to cancel.

“However, we will be coming to the United Kingdom as planned.”

Ticket holders can receive a full refund at their point of purchase – see announcement below.

As Audio Consequence points out, fans suggested in the comments section that the cancellation could be due to poor ticket sales.

Anthrax replied: “Be sure there were no problems with sales. Look at the news from there for a few minutes. We love the fans in Europe and we love playing there and we are so sad that we are not going.

“The ‘example’ doesn’t work when there are double and triple tour buses.”

The other 2022 concerts mark the band’s 40th anniversary. Announcing the tour last year, drummer Charlie Benante promised that Anthrax would “make sure every show is a hit.”

He added: “Not only will we be spinning four decades of songs to celebrate our 40th anniversary – hey, we’ll give you some history! – but we might have some new ones for you too. I can’t can’t wait to see all your happy, smiling faces!” .
