All six charges of sexual assault against British singer Rex Orange County have been dismissed following an investigation by the Crown Prosecution Service.
In October, the artist – whose real name is Alexander O’Connor – was accused of assaulting a woman on six separate occasions in London over two days in June. After pleading not guilty to all six charges, O’Connor was released on unconditional bail. The courts had set a tentative date of January 3, but the conclusions of the investigation showed that “this case has no merit in going to trial,” the singer said in a statement, noting that the account is the the evidence against him was that of the accused, which was contradicted by footage and the testimony of another person who was present.

“Today all charges against me have been dropped. The Crown Prosecution Service has reviewed the evidence and decided that there are no grounds to bring this case to trial, and a verdict of not guilty was delivered on all charges. I denied these accusations always. and I am grateful that independent evidence has cleared me of any wrongdoing. “I would like to clarify some details about what I have been accused of, because I have not been able to address it until now and inaccuracies have been spread about the case. I was wrongly accused of touching someone one night on foot , neck, back. The only evidence against me was the person’s account, however, CCTV footage obtained by the police contradicted their version of events. to the police, who did not support the allegations against me.
“It was a difficult time for everyone involved and I want to thank the people who helped me through that work, as well as my family and friends for their continued support.”
Like Rex Orange County, the artist rose to indie fame with his 2017 hits “Best Friend” and “Love Is Easy.” That same year, he featured two songs on Tyler, the Creator’s 2017 seminal album “Flower Boy.” O’Connor has released a mixtape and three studio albums, the latest of which, “Who Cares?”, came out in March.
