Alien Ant Farm frontman Dryden Mitchell has been charged with assault after grabbing a fan’s crotch during a concert.
As reported by The Daily Mail, the incident happened when the American rock band was playing at the Broward Center For The Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on October 29, 2022.
An amateur recorded the moment and posted it on YouTube. In the images the viewer is seen raising his hand towards Mitchell’s, who guides him towards his crotch. The first moves away quickly.
The unidentified fan, a Miami man, reportedly filed a complaint with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department two weeks later, alleging that the person assaulted him.
Last Friday (Dec. 30), the Broward State Attorney’s Office filed a first-degree misdemeanor charge against Mitchell, which carries up to one year in prison upon conviction.
The police wrote: “[El aficionado] he said he raised his fist and wanted to get a picture with Mitchell.
“[Señaló] that Mitchell grabbed her fist while she was in the air and pulled the fist towards her private area (genital area) against her pants. [Declaró que en ese momento retiró inmediatamente la mano”.
El asistente al concierto dijo que no quería hablar del incidente hasta más adelante por consejo de sus abogados civiles: “Estaré más que encantado de hablar más tarde. Quiero que se sepa porque lo que pasó no estuvo bien”, declaró al Daily Mail.
Decidió denunciar el delito más tarde porque “no le sentaba bien”, según la policía.
El periódico declaró que no había tenido éxito en su intento de ponerse en contacto con Mitchell a través de su agencia de contratación y de su teléfono.
En 2016, el guitarrista de Alien Ant Farm, Terry Corso, se declaró culpable de agredir a un fan en un concierto en directo. El miembro del público había arrojado líquido al músico, que supuso que era orina.
“Se sintió enfadado por ello, así que se encaró con el aficionado y acabó golpeándole una vez”, declaró el abogado de Corso, Stephen Ferns.
“Se arrepiente de sus actos y dice que nunca debió saltar del escenario”.
