Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Kojou revealed the main key visual earlier this week ahead of the September 15 premiere. Studio MAPPA is animating the original work, which will be directed by Mari Okada. This will be Okada’s second directorial effort: it was the firstMaquia: When the promised flower bloomsin 2018 and MAPPA’s first original film.
Director and screenwriter Okada previously stated that she wanted to recreate the atmosphere she felt as a child while watching Japanese films and anime films. Boys will be the main characters in this film, which will portray the “tingling feeling of youth” instead of the sweet-and-sour teenage drama.
