The fact that Adele silenced the crowd at last night’s Super Bowl while waiting for Rihanna’s halftime show took the internet by storm, sparking a trending meme.
The singer previously said she was going to the football game, telling fans at a recent concert in Las Vegas: “I’m going to Rihanna. I can’t shit.”
Now, clips of her people shutting down because Rihanna was about to hit the stage while watching the match are circulating the internet. “Adele is at the super bowl just for rihanna asking me to watch a three hour movie about gucci just for gaga,” said one Twitter user.
“Adele actually said look at me being the most iconic person out there,” said another. A third said: “Adele giving super bowl super bowl vibes. I love it.”
Another video showing Adele looking uninterested in last year’s Super Bowl has resurfaced and started circulating online.
The much-anticipated Super Bowl halftime show was Rihanna’s first live performance since 2018, and featured a 13-minute medley of some of her biggest hits from her storied catalog, including ‘Where Have You Been,’ ‘We Found Love’, ‘Umbrella’ and ‘Diamonds’.
The artist’s representatives confirmed to Variety shortly after the show that she is pregnant with her second child, following fan speculation when she appeared to rub her belly through her red jumpsuit during the opening number “Bitch Better Have My Money”.
Meanwhile, after the performance, former US President Donald Trump posted a tirade about the performance on his own Truth Social platform, writing: “EPIC FAIL: Rihanna Gives Hands Down Worst Halftime Show in Super Bowl History “.
And he continued: “This after insulting his foul language and insulting more than half of our Nation, which is already in a serious DECLINE.”
Trump followed up with a final signature, writing: “Also, this is as long as your ‘Stylist’!”
